In 1990, the Orlando Sentinel expanded its longtime commitment to the Central Florida community and established the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund with the McCormick Foundation, positively impacting the lives of thousands of disadvantaged children, families and adults each year.
Though the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund, grants are made to local nonprofits with programs that:
- Give disadvantaged kids access to a well-rounded education
- Provide nutritious meals and food supplies for children, families and senior citizens
- Ensure at-risk kids suffering from abuse are cared for with prevention and treatment programs
- Offer emergency and transitional housing options for the homeless and those at risk of losing their homes
With the generous support of donors and the match provided by the McCormick Foundation, more than $31 million has been granted through the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund, providing the means for those less fortunate to improve their lives and realize their full potential.
